He weaves this experience into his chapters about how the environment, Big Tech, children and parenting, diet, and other factors are ruining our focus. A different study of office workers found they only focus on average for three minutes. Author Johann Hari recounts his own personal experience "disconnecting" from his phone, TV, and Internet for three months after many years of constant digital stimulation from his work and personal habits. A small study of college students found they now only focus on any one task for 65 seconds. Our entire society is losing its ability to focus for a sustained period of time - and it's destroying our potential. ![]()
